Pain Management

Through the stimulation of well-defined acupuncture points, the TCM practitioner opens energy pathways to correct imbalances and blockages that can cause pain. Acupuncture can stop the transmission of pain signals to the brain and increase circulation in the problem area, promoting tissue regeneration. It also stimulates the production of endorphins, the body’s natural pain killers. Acupuncture can be effective for joint pain and arthritis affecting knees, shoulders, and hands, as well as pain associated with the back, neck, ankles and feet, muscle spasm, and TMJ.

Sports Medicine

Acupuncture is proven effective in sports medicine, both for treatment of injuries and for performance improvement. It is particularly effective in treating these conditions:

  • Musculoskeletal imbalances
  • Tendon and ligament injuries
  • Overuse syndromes
  • Tennis and golfer’s elbow
  • Hip flexor pain or dancer’s hip
  • Bursitis
  • Tendonitis
  • Plantar fasciitis

In controlled trials, acupuncture is comparable to steroid injections for relieving pain naturally, without the steroids. By correcting delicate imbalances of yin and yang, acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbal medicine can:

  • Reduce inflammation and pain
  • Increase circulation in injured tissue
  • Increase joint mobility
  • Promote optimal performance.
